Paula Orr, MD

Dr. Paula Orr, is a native of Baltimore Maryland and has called Charleston, SC home for the last 24 years.

Over the past twenty years, she has worked at her passion in women’s health as the physician and owner of Charleston’s Women’s Wellness Center and medical director for Charleston Health and Wellness Medi-Spa .Her private practice specializes in preventive and alternative health for women in  gynecology that includes bio-identical hormone replacement therapy and weight management.

 Dr. Orr graduated medical school from Wayne State University in Detroit. She completed her residency training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, where she served as Administrative Chief Resident for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

She is very active in the community, and has served on the board of numerous organizations and businesses.  She currently serves on the board for Avery Institute and has served on the Board of the Komen Charleston Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. She served as the only woman and only African- American on the Board of Trustees for The Medical University of South Carolina from 2002-2010.

Dr. Orr has received numerous community accolades including but not limited to the Charleston Regional Business Journal’s 40 under 40 Award, MOJA Arts Festival Community Tribute for contributions in Medicine, and the National Council of Negro Women’s outstanding Community Leader award in medicine. Dr Orr was listed by Essence Magazine as one of the reader’s choice for gynecologist to love.

Dr Orr is a member of the Charleston Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Incorporated and the immediate past President of The Charleston chapter of The Links, Incorporated. She attends Royal Missionary Baptist Church.
