Dress for Success Charleston hosted its Summer Market Fundraiser on Saturday, offering discounted clothing and accessories while raising money for programs that help Lowcountry women enter and re-enter the workforce.
The event took place at the Naval Base in North Charleston, with early bird entry at 9:30 a.m. and general admission at 10 a.m.
Organizers said all proceeds benefit programs that help women prepare for job interviews, re-enter the workforce and set them up for success long-term. Funds also support the Saving Our Inventory Clothes Closet, which serves women in the tri-county area.
About the event
The family-friendly event featured deeply discounted designer and brand-name items, including clothes, shoes and accessories, along with a food truck and local vendors.
Margaret Jefferson, founder of Dress for Success Charleston, said the fundraiser is designed to sustain the organization’s clothes closet.
“The purpose of this event is for us to be able to maintain our clothes closet because we serve hundreds of women annually and when someone comes up to the Summer Market, not only are they getting a great deal, but they’re also investing in the future of a local woman and her family,” Jefferson said.
Looking for a dedicated space
The organization is also seeking a dedicated space to expand its capacity to serve more women. Groups interested in collaborating are encouraged to visit the organization’s website and reach out.
