How can I make a clothing donation?
Dress for Success relies on individual contributions of business attire and accessories to make our clients look and feel their best! Use the information on our contact page to get in touch with us.
Do you pick up donations?
No, we don’t have the capacity to provide pick up services.
Do you Accept Men’s Clothing?
We do not take men’s clothing. Men’s Warehouse accepts gently used men professional attire and donate these items to men organizations in the community to help men to seek and maintain employment.
What type of clothing does Dress for Success accept?
We accept gently used women professional attire classic in design. No more than 2 years old. We accept women’s blouses, classic pumps, classic flats, slacks, dresses, suits, belts, handbags and leather portfolios without logos.
Are clothing donations tax deductible?
Dress for Success Charleston County is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are therefore tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please contact us about obtaining a receipt.
Why are donation hours limited?
We rely on volunteer support to help intake, sort, and process donations. Our staff focuses their time and attention on making sure the women we serve have the resources and support they need.
Why do you request donations be cleaned first?
Dress for Success Charleston County operates a ready-to-wear boutique; we do not have the resources to clean or press donations. We don’t want to transfer the cost to clean the clothing to women who have limited resources.
How do I get an appointment?
An appointment for a workshop or event can be scheduled by registered on our registering online. Otherwise, appointments may be arranged by one of our referral agencies for an interview or employment suiting. You may also request an appointment via our contact information.
Do I need a referral?
Although we work with a network of agencies to help make women aware of our free programs and services, a referral is not required to access our programs or services.
Do you offer job placement?
The programs at Dress for Success Charleston County prepare women to search for and secure employment. However, we do work collaboratively with agencies and businesses for job placement opportunities. Periodically, we do provided job leads which we share via email.
I already have a job and just need clothes
Our SuitHER program is intended to provide professional clothing for women who are job-searching or need to maintain a new profession, and our resources are directed for those who need them most. While we don’t refuse a women in need, we can provide attire our excess inventory, and verification of new or employment.
We encourage you to take advantage of Friends of Dress for Success Excess Inventory Sale. At this event you can purchase a gently used clothing to include shoes and handbags for $4- $25. Keep an eye on our calendar for this event.
