Our signature chili is more than a recipe—it’s a tradition, perfected by Margie through prayer, patience, and passion. Every batch is made with care and love, creating a rich, unforgettable flavor that keeps people coming back. The secret? It’s “All in the sauce.”
We wanted our logo to be a depiction of love and togetherness. So coming up with a name for the business was a no brainer. The name of the business depicts the people who inspired us to do it, Jazmin, Alaysha, and Ravyn whose initials form J.A.R. and the jar symbolizes their legendary chili sauce, a nod to the heart of their brand and the magic behind every bite.
J.A.R.- a joint partnership Latovah Barnes and Margie Brown, was born from faith, love, and a grandmother’s determination. In 2018, Margie Brown launched a hot dog stand to help support her granddaughters, Jazmin and Alaysha, through college. Later joining her mother in business, Latova , a widow raising three daughters. Through prayer and many brainstorming sessions , they came up with the concept of selling not only hot dogs, but mouth watering chili dogs using their secret family chili recipe that gave their food a signature flavor.
What began as a small summer venture in Mount Pleasant quickly grew into a thriving business. Locals and visitors alike fell in love with the famous chili dogs, and the stand became a staple in the community and a symbol of resilience, faith, and community. Despite challenges, the family’s faith never wavered. J.A.R. became more than a business—it became a beacon of hope and togetherness.
